One of the Gaucho retail symbols, Multisom is under a new direction. The network, currently with 83 stores, was sold to Santa Catarinense Schumann, based in Chapecó, in the west of the neighboring state. The purchase, which came to the public on Wednesday (29), did not have the values disclosed. According to business-related sources, the idea of the Catarinense network, which already acts in the north of the state, is to maintain stores and the little more than 800 multisom employees and, over time, resuming the expansion of the network. The Gaúcha brand will also continue to be used.
According to the advocate Márcio Louzada Carpena, the treatives had been occurring for some time and intensified in the last 90 days. Along with the lawyer César Verch, both of the Office Carpena Lawyers, Carpena was responsible for the advice and structuring of the sale operation. In addition to Schumann, two funds also demonstrated interest in Multisom, but the proposal of Catarinense retailer ended privileged by the work and perspective of jobs and stores.
Though competitors, the two networks have relative complementarity. Schumann, with about 80 stores, has greater presence in the West Santa Catarinense and, in Rio Grande do Sul, maintains 14 branches in the north, closer to the currency between states. In addition, it also has units in Paraná. Multisom is stronger in Rio Grande do Sul, with stores spread throughout the territory and also operations in Santa Catarina, including the coastal part, where Schumann is not present.
The main difference is in the portfolio. Unlike the Network Gaucho, which works mainly with musical and electronic instruments, the Catarinense network also sells white line and furniture. Because of this, there are larger shops and, therefore, it would be difficult to convert the flag because many multisom stores have reduced size. Second Carpena, even maintaining the brand, multisome units must undergo a remodeling to be modernized.
"I see as something positive for Rio Grande do Sul itself, because Multisom will receive capitalization, be revitalized and it is important that this happens," says Carpena. The deadline for implementing the actions is not yet defined, but the idea of buyers, according to the lawyer, is of the future expansion of Multisom in Rio Grande do Sul.
Curious business point is that Schumann, founded in 1997, in the city of Seara, in the West Catarinense, has been in judicial recovery since 2016. According to Carpena, the process was due to a problem of cash fuxo, and The retailer is already out of recovery after reorganization and growth in the number of stores and billing. "Often the market receives judicial recovery
as a sign that the company goes bad, but it sees how it can be healthy," argues the lawyer.
Founded in 1988 in Porto Alegre, Multisom has become a symbol of the Gaucho retail with the sale of discs and CDs. With the transformations in the phonographic market in recent decades caused by the advancement of digital media, the network had to reinvent and started acting with instruments, telephony, computer science and electronics.
In recent years, it has undergone difficulties and reduced the number of stores. Even so, he had bills of about R $ 400 million last year. The company was administered so far by the entrepreneur Francisco Noveleto Neto, also famous in the sports sphere, since he commands the Football Federation of Football (FGF) since 2004, position that leaves at the end of 2019.
